Sena! You sound like you’re from London! I hope you remember that quote from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I can’t wait til you develop a British accent accidentally. But I hope it’s a really ugly cockney accent so you say stuff like “‘ow prittee” (how pretty) instead of “so beautiful and cute”.
Anywho… welcome to your first monthly letter! How is everything so far? I bet it’s a lot of mixed feelings and lots going on. Or in your words “it’s fine”. Whatever the situation, you’re a pro now at adventure and adjusting to new environments and you’re strong as heck. This will all be an absolute doddle to you (look it up it’s your new British saying). I hope you’re feeling a boost of energy with the crisp Fall weather and new possibilities of a new life!
If you ever feel “homesick” or just off… get that weighted blanket on, pour some tea, order some pizza or whatever the comfort food of England is (shepherds pie???) to your flat (like what I did there?) and watch something stupid like gossip girl S1E1. That’s pretty much all I did in Spain study abroad. You don’t need to be a cultured grown up all the time. That being said I did look up common British sayings and one of them is “quit your whinging!” Which is British for whining / crying.
We are so proud of you and impressed by you, Sena. The world is your oyster! We can’t wait to hear all about it and visit. Take lots of pics and drink it in. Have beers at a pub with the locals. Buy a fancy trench coat and umbrella for the constant spotty rain. Start using the word gutted. And go do some stupid tour guide on a double decker with your sister and laugh the whole time. It might be a lot right now, but you’re going to love it. I just know it.
We love you so much and we are here for you always!
